Jude Head trauma #2

So.....not sure if some of remember, but when we first moved into this house (last summer) Jude hit his chin on the stairs and bit through his tongue taking us to the ER.  Well...tonight Jude  was playing near Dylan and took a tumble hitting his head on the corner of the fireplace.  For those of you unfamiliar with head trauma.....a little cut = massive blood.  We went back and forth on taking him to the after hours ped. but we put some medicine/glue on the cut and a bandage and are hopeful we made the right choice.  Matt says "Chic's dig scars"......so I guess that is the insightful parenting we are going with tonight.

The picture is taken after the medicine......makes me nervous that this little boy will be sending me to the hospital for things like this in the future!

What a Day!

The weather here has been so very wonderful the past few days!  We have been at the park everyday for the past week and Jude has been in heaven.  Our friend Andrea calls him a "billy goat" because he climbs up everything.  He will launch himself head first down the tallest slide at the park without hesitation!  It is crazy.
Last night Dylan ran a fever so I kept her home from school today.  We went for a walk/run (2 miles) to get some fresh air and enjoy the day.  At about mile 1.75 I noticed that Jude dropped his blanket.  I thought to myself "I will get home and then drive to find it"....I must have said something out loud because Dylan said "Mommy, Jude dropped his blanket."  "Did you see it drop Dylan?" "Yes"........"Why didn't you tell Mommy?"......"Because I was deep in thought...you know practicing my quiet time."  "When did it fall?"  "Just a minute ago Mommy...it is not far."  So I decided to get a little more of a walk in since the blanket was not far.......Note to self - 5 year old's who have "deep thoughts" have NO perception of distance.  So the blanket fell about 12 steps from the front door where the walk started.  Thus making for about a 3 1/2 mile walk!!!!!  Thank you kids for the extra long workout!  Literally up hill both ways. :)

Anyway...the day continued with a trip to the Doctor.  Poor Dylan had a 104.1 fever at the doctors office.  We waited 2 hours for a strep and flu test.  She has strep again.  At the end of the visit Jude fell and bumped his head so hard in front of the doctor we had to stay an additional 30 minutes to observe him.  2 1/2 hours in a box of a room with one very sick little girl and 1 very tired little boy.  They were troopers.

It is so hard to see my little Dilly so sick.  She is so full of life and right now she feels so very bad.  Jude has been taking care of her.  It is like her knows she is not herself.  He keeps coming up to her and leaning on her and patting her as if to say "it will be allright shishi." Warms my heart!

Let's see....we started the month off pretty well.  The kids had their valentines party and made cookies for their Valentine's cards.

Matt and I were so proud of ourselves because we booked a sitter a month in advance for Valentines Day....then it snowed 9-12" in Dallas and left us without power for 5 days so no date for us...but the snow was fun!

Yesterday we went to the Zoo.  Dylan and Jude both really enjoyed it.  Dylan took her money she earned and bought a little tiger.  It has been a wet and cold winter so yesterday it was so nice to be outside in the nice weather.

Hope everyone is staying warm!  Keely
